This is a literally "unknown" memorial. The oldest record we have found about it is from about 1820 in the Rawlins MSS.
"Against the North wall of the Nave is a slab of alabaster, at whose summit are three Cherubims, with an hourglass, the inscription was once painted upon it but is now quite gone..."
It has been noted by some Scholars that the memorial may have been carver by Watson, but never completed due to the stone not being adequately stable to hold the carving. The cherubs to the left and right of the hourglass have been mortared in and when inspected closely you can see their original positions higher up the hourglass and facing further downwards than at present.
